Sea Monsters Roll20 error!
over 2 years ago – Sat, Aug 21, 2021 at 11:52:10 PM

Hi all,

It turns out that the actual Sea Monsters VTT module hasn't been uploaded and finalized on Roll20 yet. The links we sent out were labeled as "Sea Monsters" but were actually for the Sea Monsters VTT Token Pack

Oops.

Thanks to one of our backers for letting us know. I was able to ping our Roll20 guy and he affirmed that yes, he's actually finishing up Sea Monsters and will be sending it over to them early next week. Once it's up and finalized I'll get a new set of codes from the Roll20 folks and get them sent out to all backers who were getting that item.

Sorry for the confusion and happy gaming with the rest of the VTT stuff!

Clearly our brains were eaten by an incutilis. Stupid brain-eating monsters...

Early-Bird Samples AWAY, and Latin American Monsters & Adventures coming August 17!
over 2 years ago – Sun, Aug 08, 2021 at 12:54:47 AM

We were very excited to receive our advance copies of Asian Monsters from the printer a week or so ago, and after running around with a crazy busy week we finally got all six sent out to lucky backers drawn at random! Congratulations to backers Watson, Peterson, Barnes, Hoellein, McEvoy, and Foo, your books are on their way! For the rest of us, the giant pile of books is almost two weeks into their journey across the Pacific, with a target date in port in mid/late September. LG central is less than 10 miles from the port where they'll arrive, so it shouldn't take long for them to make their way here once they clear customs! All of our books have been lovely, but this one REALLY shines. I was paging through it and it was just wow. You all are going to be very excited to get this book in your hands!

While we wait for those books to arrive, we are of course gearing up for the Boricubos: Latin American Monsters and Adventures Kickstarter, which was set to launch earlier this week! However, a key member of our ads and promotions team has been recovering from COVID and a follow-up illness. They are on the mend and should be back to work next week, but next week I have travel plans myself! While we would love to get these books into your hands ASAP, there's nothing so urgent about this week in particular to launch that demands we stick to it, and after a great and wide-ranging conversation with the other folks on the promo team about best approaches, we have decided to postpone launch until Tuesday, August 17, running for 30 days and ending Thursday, September 16!

In addition to moving back our launch date, we have a couple of additional updates for you!

  • First and foremost, of course, we would love for you to follow our Kickstarter preview page right here to get notified when we go live on the 17th!
  • As we did for Sea Monsters and Asian Monsters, we also have created an 11-page FREE preview PDF for you to get an early look at the amazing creatures heading your way in Latin American Monsters! You can download it right here, and by all means please share the word with any friends or fellow gamers who might be interested!
  • Our layout folks are working on a 20-page FREE preview PDF of Boricubos: The Lost Isles, giving you a taste of what you'll find in this fantastic campaign setting supplement! We hope to have that available to share in the next few days.
  • This is doing to be a classic 30-day Kickstarter, complete with stretch goals; HOWEVER, you know that Quickstarters are in our blood, and we are full speed ahead on expediting the process. Two versions of Boricubos: The Lost Isles are already complete in layout (pending additional stretch goal sections that might be added), and the 5E version of Latin American Monsters should be finished in layout by launch day! We are assembling the other versions as we go along, so that by the time we are finished with the Kickstarter you'll have PDFs available to you regardless of which version(s) you select. If we end up with more stretch goals hit than expected, we'll release a beta version with all of the completed sections, followed by the final version once stretch goals are complete, but we're so confident in the response to this project that we are already working on those stretch goals in advance so we can have things ready for you!

This two-book Kickstarter features both the Boricubos: The Lost Isles campaign setting and our latest fantastic bestiary, Latin American Monsters, and it's going to be available not only for DnD 5E Pathfinder RPGbut also for Pathfinder Second Editionand for DnD 5E!We  are putting the final artistic touches on our Kickstarter page and getting ready to launch next week! If you're looking for amazing new monsters (starting with 80 amazing creatures and with stretch goals poised to hit 120 or more!) and a magnificent new tropical campaign setting (with awesome bonus adventure stretch goals and more fun stuff).

We thank you so much for your amazing support of Asian Monsters and we look forward to another amazing project when we launch on the 17th!

Our books have set sail for LG Headquarters!
almost 3 years ago – Thu, Jul 29, 2021 at 05:20:49 PM

Hi all,

I was waiting to send out an update until I had confirmation that our books were aboard ship and heading stateside, and they left port this week on July 26th! We had a long wait on the docks before we got our turn to get loaded. It turns out those news reports you may have heard about global shipping and logistics being snarled by COVID complications across multiple industries... yeah. Turns out that still is most definitely a thing that made the process take longer than expected, but that just meant patience for all of us and that patience has at last been rewarded!

The sailing is scheduled to arrive here in the Seattle/Tacoma area in mid/late September, and after unloading should be trucked here within a week or so of arrival. Our shipment will include all copies of Mythos Monsters, Sea Monsters, Battlemasters & Berserkers, Pirate Campaign Compendium, and - thanks to a heroic push by our printing partners - our recently completed Asian Monsters books too! We're well set up to start shipping out books within a few days of their arrival!

With the print books finally headed our way, we are gearing up for the Boricubos: Latin American Monsters and Adventures Kickstarter, scheduled to launch next week! This two-book Kickstarter features both the Boricubos: The Lost Isles campaign setting and our latest fantastic bestiary, Latin American Monsters. Unlike our recent Quick-Starters, this one *will* have stretch goals, though we fully anticipate reaching them and already have a ton of work done towards that extra content. Between the two books, we anticipate around 300 pages of incredible content, and it's going to be available not only for DnD 5E but also for Pathfinder RPG and Pathfinder Second Edition! 5E and Pathfinder RPG versions of Boricubos are already complete in layout and we'll have the Pathfinder 2E version in layout by next week, along with the 5E version of Latin American Monsters. We are planning to have as many versions as possible complete by the time the KS ends, so we can have immediate PDF fulfillment.

You can sign up to follow the project right here and get the alert when we go live. If you've enjoyed our 5E past monster books like Mythos Monsters, Sea Monstersand Asian Monsters, we hope you'll check it out!

Smoke test sent!
almost 3 years ago – Sun, Jul 18, 2021 at 06:25:46 PM

Hi all,

Our Backerkit survey is complete, and we have just sent out the "smoke test" - a sample version of the survey that goes out to 5% of backers, so we can make sure to check whether there are any problems with the survey. If you're one of the folks who receives the survey as part of the test, please fill it out and return at your earliest convenience so we can detect any issues. Assuming everything works as it should, we'll be sending out the backer survey to everyone tomorrow! We'd like to collect as many responses as possible before the end of July, so we look forward to your replies. Once we are ready to start shipping, we'll send out a reminder to everyone to check and update your address in Backerkit to make sure your books get to you!

With that business taken care of, here are some more quick updates on related projects:

  • We've been sending out hundreds of Kickstarter items over the past few weeks for last year's Aegis of Empires Kickstarter, as well as the Fates of Madness games from that Kickstarter and Mythos Monsters, clearing the decks to be ready to receive our Monsters books and get them out to you! It feels great not just to check off things on my "to-do" list but also to literally clear space from storage; we've got a lot of books coming in soon so we've got to get ready!
  • We've got a new graphic artist on board working on polishing up the Kickstarter page for the Boricubos: Latin American Monsters and Adventures! You already knew the books were going to be awesome, but we're trying something different from our usual simple visual presentation for the Kickstarter page. We hope you love it, with our target launch date probably the first week of August!
  • Last but not least, we also encourage any of you who like the D&D 5E work we do at LG to check out our Legendary Loot Patreon, with new 5E content posted every single day and FREE magic items every Friday (this week is the dimensionalbomb), plus The Dragon's Hoard, a monthly 30-page PDF/softcover compilation with over 40 magic items, spells, monsters, class options, and more. Patrons get their copy on the 1st of each month, but The Dragon's Hoard #8 just went live to everyone today.

Backerkit Survey submitted for approval! And printing has begun!
almost 3 years ago – Wed, Jul 14, 2021 at 12:49:51 AM

We have two pieces of VERY good news for you!

  • I've just submitted our Backerkit survey for review and approval. Once it passes through their process (which usually takes about two days), we'll send out a "smoke test," which is test run of the survey that goes out to about 5% of backers. This gives us a chance to find and fix any problems that we missed in setup. Once everything is lined up, we'll be ready to send out the full survey to everyone. The survey is the time to pay for shipping on any physical rewards and also an opportunity to add any extra items you were thinking about during the project but needed to wait for your next payday or just decided you wanted to get after all! It also gives you the chance to specify which VTT system you want for any VTT modules you ordered. If you want more than one, you can add that on as well and let us know.
  • Secondly, through a combination of heroic efforts, lots of preparation, and tireless back and forth with our layout person and our printer staff, we've managed to fast-track printing of Asian Monsters! Not only is it already printing *NOW*, but barring an unforeseen catastrophe we'll be able to get it on the same container ship that's already going to be loading the other books, so they'll all arrive at the same time and we'll be able to get ALL of our fantastic Legendary Monsters books headed out to you at once!

Every project gets bigger, better, and faster, and it's great to get awesome new books into your hands with ludicrous speed! After a busy day, I think I'll relax with some mood music for our next Kickstarter!
